YELLOW DOOR HOUSE
There is a kind of charm that an old house possesses. In this five-room residential renovation, the challenge was not only to preserve this quality but also to enhance it while matching it with the character of its new owners.
An intricate relation betweens spaces is the most heartwarming feature of this house. Spaces all communicate through wide doors, often more than 2 for each room. It allows for continuity of spaces and also offers the freedom of having distinct areas. The main body of the house comprises of one study, a living room, a dining room, a bedroom, and a guest room. Secondary spaces are also included as follows: one kitchen, two bathrooms (one for her, one for him), and a dressing room. In the design phase, we did a bit of shuffling around with these spaces until we found the perfect balance trough representativity, functionality, and intimacy of each room.
The house came with its own set of needs. Structural work has been done on foundations, parts of the walls and roof. There was a concern for energy efficiency there for the entire house got insulated, and wooden joinery with high-efficiency glass have been put up. These are meant to prolonge the lifespan of the building while making it appropriate for our day's comfort standards.
